Gold standards have been set in the training of personnel required for radical changes. This time it was the switch to the newer Facility-based approach in the IMNCI (Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illness) programme launched years ago. The training of trainers programme conducted on 9-13 August 2010 at the Department of Community Medicine witnessed a participation of more than 20 zealous doctors who assembled at PMCH to improve their skills in the said field.Health Minister Mr Nand Kishore Yadav inaugurated the programme in PMCH at an event clubbed with the Department of Gastroenterology on 09 August 2010.

Departmental faculty Dr Rashmi Singh (Professor & HOD), Dr Ajay Krishna (Assistant Professor) and Dr Madhumita Mukherjee (Tutor in PSM) received their certificates for completion of training at the end of this very programme. Activities included module-reading, hands-on practical training, group discussion, video sessions, pre-test and post-test etc.

Doctors from Patna Medical College and Anugrah Narayan Memorial Medical College, Gaya were trained in F-IMNCI by the collective efforts of the Departments of Community Medicine and Paediatrics. Dr Ranjeet Kumar Sinha who had attended the Master Training Programme at Bodh Gaya conducted by the UNICEF, was trainer-cum-moderator, and conducted the programme in a congenial yet productive manner. (The UNICEF also contributed to technical resources for this programme). The programme was conducted in collaboration with the UNICEF Bihar and was appreciated by all. The post-test results showed a marked improvement in the understanding and application of concepts by the participants. The programme ended with a valedictory function and a vote of thanks.
