The Department was selected as the lead institution in Bihar for monitoring and evaluation of ICDS projects and Aanganwadi Training Centres. Monitoring programmes were conducted in various parts of the state. Till 2012, reports of 18 projects and 90 Aanganwaadi Centres have been submitted to National Institute of Public Co-operation and Child Development (NIPCCD) of Government of India.

The State Quality Monitoring Cell (SQMC) of Emergency Obstetric Care (EmOC) & Life-Saving Anaesthetic Skills (LSAS) was established in the Department in 2009. The department, thus, conducts trainings and gives feedback about the operations to the National Quality Monitoring Cell of Government of India. The SQMC team visited 27 facilities in 2011 and submitted the reports to Governments of India and Bihar.
