IPC and RNTCP Clinic

Immunisation and Preventive Clinic (IPC)

An Essential Organ of the Department of Community Medicine, Patna Medical College, the IPC runs the OPD services for routine immunization as well as immunization against animal bite cases. Interns are posted on rotation as per MCI guidelines for training under the supervision of faculty members and medical officers of the department. The exact location of the IPC is on the map: http://goo.gl/maps/V66Xo .

Free supply of ARVs by the government has led to tremendous increase in the number of animal bite cases coming to the OPD directly or by referral. Dr Ranjeet Kumar Sinha discussed this in the national conference of Indian Public Health Association (IPHA) in 2008 at New Delhi, and of the Association for Prevention and Control of Rabies in India (APCRI) in 2012 at Kolkata.

Patient awareness programmes were organized in this IPC on the occasions of World Rabies Day, 28 September.

The Yuva clinic of the department also runs in the same building as the IPC. Click here to know more, or here to put your queries through our online portal.

HepB/Tetanus Vaccination for Undergraduates

PSM.PMCH is committed to health, and in order to protect future doctors and teachers of medical science from the deadly diseases Hepatitis B and Tetanus, Vaccination camps are being conducted 2010 onwards, for freshly inducted medical students of the Patna Medical College.

The Hepatitis B Vaccine available at the department was the advanced Recombinant vaccine, while the tetanus vaccine was the standard Tetanus Toxoid. These are currently not supplied by the Government of Bihar. The administration of these vaccines to medical students is important in ensuring protection from various occupational hazards of the medical profession.

Following are pictures from the camp for 2011 batch, the first dose of which was administered on 14 October, the second on 14 November 2011, and the final dose on 13 April 2012.
