The real estate development industry relies on a host of parties in order for a project to come to fruition. The Master of Land and Property Development Program is fashioned specifically to force students to work on projects that test our abilities to communicate, compromise, and learn from each other. This skill is key in real estate because all parties involved have their own agendas, diversity in reasoning, and experience. Since developments are rarely for one particular user, the goals and desires of all parties must be considered. It was difficult for me to initially understand that every project was not my "little baby." My goal is to create environments that are more valuable from my input than they were before I became involved. My personal definition of value may be different from someone else's; therefore, the goal for development should be for me to add value based on the end user's definition.
