Grenada is located 12 07 N, 61 40 W. Grenada is the most southern island of the volcanic chain of Caribbean island. As physical reference we are in the South Eastern Caribbean, between Trinidad, St. Vincent, and Barbados. About 100 miles north of Venezuela on the South American Continent

Grenada is the largest of the three, with a width of twelve miles (18 km), a length of twenty-one miles (34 km), The total area is 133 square miles (344 sq. km). The coastline is 121 km, with a territorial sea of 12 nm, and lies on the edge of the hurricane belt; the hurricane season lasts from June to November.
Grenada (pronounced Gree-Nay-Dah NOT Gren-Ah-dah) is also know as the "Spice island of the Caribbean", "The Spice Isle", "The isle of Spice" or "The Greens" by the youth.

The Seven Gold Stars represent the seven parishes and the hopes, aspirations and ideas upon which the nation was founded.
The Nutmeg symbolizes the island's reputation as the Isle of Spice. Grenada is the world's second-largest producer of nutmeg, after Indonesia.
The Coat of Arms
On top the shield there is a golden crown, topped by a garland of Bougainvillea. Above the crown and within the garland are seven red roses representing seven communities in Grenada. Holding the shield are an armadillo, which stands before a corn stalk, and, on the other side, a Grenada dove, which stands before a banana plant. The base represents a grassland, mountains and Grenada's Grand Etang lake.
A ribbon displays the national motto:
"Ever conscious of God we aspire, build and advance as one people."
The National BirdThe Grenada Dove (Leptotila wellsi), is found only on Grenada. Originally known as the Pea Dove or Well's Dove, it is the National Bird of Grenada. It is considered to be one of the most critically endangered doves in the world (Bird Life International 2000).
The Grenada Dove is characterized by a white throat; face and forehead-pale pink shading to dull brown on crown and nape; upper-parts-olive brown; underwing-chestnut; neck and upper breast pink-buff fading to white on lower breast, belly and under-tail coverts.
There are six Parishes/Political Divisions and one town on the mainland, and the capital city is St. George’s.
PeopleAs of 1999 the population on the Island was 100,703, which consists of mainly “Black African”, and “East Indian” to a lesser extent. English is the official language and is widely spoken, however, it is not uncommon to hear some French Patois. The level of literacy is 98%

Economy
The economy is agriculture based, however, tourism is the leading foreign exchange earner. Nevertheless, fisheries, textile and light manufacturing contribute quite significantly to foreign exchange earnings.
