The process
that enables the communities to accept responsibilities, to explore possibilities & take action to steward their geographical assets. This process empowers the community to sustain and enhance the environment, cultural, historical, social and human resources in a continuing and independent basis through transparency and accountability platforms.
The communities' ability to steward their assets is dependent on following:
Their understanding of their roles, responsibilities and rights as citizens, as well as, those of the government, civil society and private sector in the process of development.
A clearly defined process that will allow them to identify, analyse and plan for the sustainability of their assets.
Building knowledge, capacity and support to develop and sustain their assets.
The first three stages are meant to assist in the following:-
strategic plan for their independent and continuing development.
3rd Stage - Plan community's development of a Sustainable Strategic Plan, Action Plan, Communication Plan and Monitoring and Evaluation Plan.

At the end of every stage results should be placed in the public areas to be commented on by the community. Some places that the information can be posted are:
Shops, markets and groceries
Churches
Schools
Community centers
Clinics
Public website
Make sure you leave a sheet with information of how the community can find or contact the facilitator
Leave a comment sheet for community to be able to comment on the findings
Circulate the findings to community leaders and institutions
1st Stage - Identify and describe the community's location, resources, needs and possibilities. The community then draw a map identifying all the locations of the listed input of the community. The map is now used as a guide for GPS'ing and documenting the sites, events or personalities which is now reflected in online community asset mapping.
