MasterMind Groups

What is a “Mastermind Group”?

If you haven't yet had the opportunity of reading Napoleon Hill (see below), I can tell you that a Mastermind Group is a group of people who support each other in order to improve. You exchange points of view. You learn from the others. Normally they are for sharing support & knowledge that will permit you to advance personally & in your business.

But there are many different forms & one that you can enjoy with NodoEspiral is the ExpandAMOs Group.

How to organize a Mastermind Group?

If you have not created or joined a MasterMind Group, I recommend that you do it now. It is one of the best formulae to achieve great results. It's simple & something within reach for everyone.

The steps to follow so that your group functions correctly & meet your expectations are the following:

Objectives

You need to have a clear idea of what you want to achieve with this group. The more concrete it is, the better will be your results. Non-specific objectives tend to produce groups with lack of focus.

Contents

Select a number of topics that will be of interest to the group. All of these contents need to have a central pivot. All have to repond to the objective that you have in mind.

Duration

The meetings have to have a controlled starting & ending. Don't abuse of time. Things in their right amounts bring best results. When you are able to keep within time limits, you avoid dispersion & will achieve that the meetings are most effective. In general, two hours is a good length.

Frequency

With what frequency will you meet? Start little by little. One or two times per month could make sens. If, later on, the group dynamics itself asks you for more meetings, you can always adapt them to your needs.

Members

People who share interest for the contents you are going to manage. If possible, with different backgrounds so that they can all bring different points of view. The ideal number would be between 4 or 5.

Agenda

Always, always use an agenda. A good idea consists in organizing the contents in blocks of time. Also, you can assign time to the interventions of each person. Although it might sound a little strict, it is the only way to get the maximum enjoyment out of the reunions. Try different agenda structures until you find the one that works best. Here there are no recepies. You need to try things out.

The Place

If you can get hold of a meeting room, great! If that is not the case, don't worry, a coffee shop can always give a hand. Choose a quiet one. Remember that the objective of the meeting is to be able to talk in a relaxed manner. Choose the most appropriate place & convert it to your meeting room.

Calendar

It is important to fix a constant day & time for the meetings. The group has to take on the commitment to attend. Movable dates normally end up making chaos in this type of initiative. Find dates that fit the best in everyone's regular commitments & don't move them.

Minutes

Yes, it is necessary to keep minutes. It may sound gray & too official, but it is the only way to keep a history of what the group gets up to & the advances that you achieve. They don't need to be very orthodox minutes. Simply, recount what happens at these meetings. That is sufficient.

Facilitation

All Mastermind Groups have to have a facilitator. It can be a fixed person or it can be responsibility rotated amongst the different members. The facilitator will make sure that the agreed dynamics are respected & that the group advance according to the objectives.

Napoleon Hill

Napoleon Hill (October 26, 1883 – November 8, 1970) was an American author who was one of the earliest producers of the modern genre of personal-success literature.

He is widely considered to be one of the great writers on success. His most famous work, Think and Grow Rich (1937), is one of the best-selling books of all time (at the time of Hill's death in 1970, Think and Grow Rich had sold 20 million copies).

Hill's works examined the power of personal beliefs, and the role they play in personal success. He became an advisor to President Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1933-36. "What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve" is one of Hill's hallmark expressions.

How achievement actually occurs, and a formula for it that puts success in reach of the average person, were the focal points of Hill's books.

Think and Grow Rich is a motivational personal development and self-help book written by Napoleon Hill and inspired by a suggestion from Scottish-American businessman Andrew Carnegie.

While the title implies that this book deals only with how to achieve monetary wealth, the author explains that the philosophy taught in the book can be used to help individuals succeed in all lines of work and to do or be almost anything they want in this world.

Master Mind Definition

The term originally comes from a previous book of Hill's, "The Law of Success in Sixteen Lessons" (1928):

"Master Mind," meaning a mind that is developed through the harmonious co-operation of two or more people who ally themselves for the purpose of accomplishing any given task.
