Work Day - August 16, 2014

Post date: 22-Aug-2014 16:34:21

We had 15 Ringling College students, 3 Friends of Payne Park Tennis Center members, 1 Payne Park patron and 6 county staff for the volunteer day effort on August 16. We cut down dead trees, removed shrubs, spread mulch, painted benches and outlined the tennis center entrance in pavers. We didn’t get to everything planned, but for a small group who had to deal with the wet and rainy elements quite a bit was accomplished in a half-days work.

It was a big success all things considered and the first community volunteer effort to benefit the tennis center ever. The front entrance was completed and looks more open and expansive. The distressed Holly trees were cut down and removed. The dead magnlolia trees were cut down and removed and we managed to paint a few benches and tables.

Sy Schlossman, Chuck and Pam Bournival and Denise Spalsbury represented our tennis membership and were a big help painting and cleaning up debris.
