Equal Rights Amendment White House Petition

Post date: Jan 8, 2013 9:52:57 PM

January 11, the 128th anniversary of Alice Paul's birthday, is when the Facebook ERA Group will be submitting our White House ERA petition. We will need to substantially increase the numbers in this group and our ERA NOW-ERA Petition group so that we will be able to meet the 25,000 signature requirement in 30 days. Please get your friends to join and spread the word. If you are a member of a women's rights group, please get them to support this effort. If you are a member of the petition group, please remember that by being a member, you have pledged to sign the petition when it is introduced. Please help with this endeavor! This petition CAN make a difference! http://www.facebook.com/groups/142866632513878/?notif_t=group_r2j

We petition the Obama Administration to:

Fully Support Efforts to Expeditiously Ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA)

We call on the Obama Administration to vigorously support women’s rights by fully engaging in efforts to ratify the 1972 ERA. There are currently 35 states that have ratified the ERA and we need just three more states for women to have equal rights under our Constitution. We ask you to support our efforts nationwide, particularly in the states that have not yet ratified the ERA: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, N. Carolina, Oklahoma, S. Carolina, Utah, and Virginia. We also ask you to place your full support behind Congressional legislation that would eliminate any deadlines on the original 1972 ERA. It’s time our Constitution protects the rights of women, and women need and deserve active participation from the White House.
