Global Art Remembrance Artist Statement
(Write this as a script. In other words, write it as you would say it.)
Tips: not too many “I’s”, be specific, thoughtful, and honest
Your artist statement will:
1. Describe the person honored and indicate why you selected that person
2. Explain the significance of the objects and design and what those things communicate
3. Draw cultural influences and connections
4. Reflect on the creative process/problem solving style
5. Be printed in a museum brochure and video taped for presentation on the video screen at the museum
6. Be the text for your blog entry
Please:
1. Make a copy of this document and save it with this title:
[class period] [last name initial][first name][Remembrance]
example: 4 V.Pamela Remembrance
2. Share it with (enter email addresses)
3. Title first put the name of who you are honoring and then a little something more, not too long, that gives insight into your work
example: Grandma Ellis: Memories of Love
Write this as a script. In other words, write it as you would say it. This should be between one and two minutes spoken- not too long and not too short!
Tips: not too many “I’s”, be specific, thoughtful, and honest
4. Then, respond to questions 1-4 above. The first three are fairly direct and easy. You have written and research about them already. Use those worksheets and the agenda reflection entries that you have made. The most challenging one will probably be #4. Think about how you decided who to do, how you tackled the technical aspects/problem solving things like covering the box. The viewer is interested.
Lastly, be sure to include a final sentence that the closes the statement. Maybe it will be about how you feel about your work or if you have changed in some way from doing this piece.
Good luck!
