History:

  • After discovering Aliby, UPF explorers set their sights on the next likely candidate for a life-bearing sun. Being much nearer, there was much excitement when the explorers found the Fonn system (which had two habitable planets - Zah-Kit and Purcell). But Richard Starlark of Starlark Pan Galactic Industries, who had a minor stake in developing the Grand Space Dock of P'salm of Aliby, decided to sponsor and embark on his own exploration of the Lantrey system. Aboard the Freighter Omniscience, Richard was astonished when they saw the beautiful second planet orbiting the G1 Giant star named Lantrey by UPF explorers. Richard's first comments when he saw the results from the survey team on board the Omniscient was, "It's like a magnificent shining jewel - the best kind of treasure that can be found in the Palalyrn Cluster... Look at that, it's paradise beckoning!"

  • From the day Richard Starlark first set eyes on the planet, the planet (also named Starlark after her founder) has become a thriving industrial planet. In this short span of five decades, the planet has developed into a major space stopover for traders and tourists alike. Of renown is the third largest megalopolis in the entire Palalyrn Cluster. Taking the same name as the planet, the city of Starlark covers a 100 mile-radius of densely populated residential, commercial and especially industrial developed areas.

Cities of Note (in order of population size):

  • Starlark - Huge industrialized megalopolis (35% Human, 25% Yazirian, 20% Vrusk, 10% Dralasite)

  • Abragon - Large research city (50% Human, 45% Yazirian)

  • Narymi - Another large city plagued by typhoons (50%Human, 30% Yazirian)

  • K'tig Nar - Small city sited at the top of a vast cliff (50% Vrusk, 25% Human, 10% Yazirian)

  • Herza - Small city also plagued by typhoons (80% Yazirian)

  • K'ree Tin - Small research city (85% Vrusk)

  • Palomar - Research city located next to jungle (40% Yazirian, 35% Human)

  • Nelsin - Jungle paradise: a popular tourist destination (Mixed)

  • Lurch - Earthquake prone village near several bountiful mineral mines (Mixed)

  • Sull - Fully automated mega-farming community (80% Human, 10% Yazirian)

  • Royson - Underground mega-complex penitentiary next to a minor village (Mixed)

Adventure Hooks:

  • "Escape from Royson Penitentiary" : Every community has its share of "bad hats", and those housed in the Royson Penitentiary would soon become infamous for the largest prison outbreak in the entire Palalyrn Cluster. The village of Royson is an underground village built in an area of bad lands stretching hundreds of kilometers. The village is highly inaccessible and hence the local planetary government had agreed that a mega-sized prison complex be built there. The only means of travel to and from Royson is by the SRRT - Starlark Rapid Rail Transit, that links Royson to Starlark. On the eve of the local new year, there is a prison breakout and the hardcore criminals of Royson Penitentiary take over the entire village. The criminals had made plans to take over Starlark and are sending an entire train load of hard core criminals towards the megalopolis . Pandemonium reigns as the paranoid leaders of Starlark declare the megalopolis closed from the outside world. Can the heroes do something about this situation?

  • "Armageddon On Starlark" : A strange astronomical event has taken place around the third planet of the system - the alignment of most of the satellites of the giant gaseous planet of Gossl, has caused several chunks of material to eject from the complex ring system. These material have further accreted into a comet shaped mass and are now on a direct collision course with the planet Starlark. Computations by astronomers have confirmed that the comet shall strike the ocean just 200 km south of Herza and UPF ships have been directed to take out or to divert the comet before all life on Starlark gets wiped out by a tidal wave of gigantic proportions. Can our heroes achieve this feat to save the planet before it is too late?

Unique Flora and Fauna:

  • Gantopod - Large mammalian eight-eyed whale-like creatures.

  • Jarin - Sleek parrot-like with multi-colored feathers and a penchant for meat.

  • Lyxen - Similar to fox but with greenish pelt and camouflaging ability.

  • Mutaria Plant - Heinous monstrosity found in jungles. Think of a venus fly trap found in the Sol System and boost its IQ to that of a predatory tiger.
