Imagine a swarm of creatures, each about the size of a large cat or a small dog. They have elongated, segmented bodies reminiscent of earthly insects, but on a much larger scale. Their bodies could be a variety of colors, perhaps iridescent or bioluminescent, reflecting light in strange and beautiful patterns. Fear the K'riz Dars.
K'riz Dars are large flying bug-like creatures about half a metre in length. These creatures have a poisonous sting (except for Yazirians who are immune to it). Their "buzz" is very high pitched and can be heard from a mile away. K'riz Dars are normally found flying around in small "swarms" and are particularly attracted to the flowery scent of the unique flora found on Salm - particularly the flower of the Salmid shrub.

Every five years of so, huge swarms (40-400) of these insects will congegrate and fly towards the equator leaving behind a path of total devastation. Their movements are coordinated, creating a mesmerizing, undulating pattern as they fly together. Despite their alien nature and large size, there's a certain beauty to their flight, a testament to the diversity of life across the universe.
Their objective is to reach the peaks of the mountains and there they will initiate their breeding cycle... which normally interferes with the native mining operations being done there.
