Each year, our district and the state association host scholarship auditions for senior students who are planning to be music education majors at an Iowa college or university. If you have a student who meets this criteria, please encourage them to apply for this scholarship on the IBA website (https://sites.google.com/bandmasters.org/major-landers/scholarship-information). Once the online application is completed, students will be invited to our district auditions. The winner of the district auditions will go on to compete for more scholarship money at the state level during IBA. Here are a few things to remember:
1. The deadline for the district/state auditions is published in the NEIBA Calendar and is typically in early December. There is no penalty deadline so be sure to get things ready early.
2. Students register on the IBA website and must have all documents attached by the deadline. The application form is available on the IBA website (you must be signed in)
3. An official transcript (listing all classes taken, etc.), student biography, director recommendation, and administrator recommendation need to be attached.
4. Make sure the application is filled out in its entirety or it will not be accepted. Include the city and zip code in the address column.
5. The student MUST be a senior planning to major in instrumental music education and plan on attending college at an IOWA college or university!!
Please let me know if you have any questions!
