2004 Club Accomplishments

[ Back to Current Season ]

Not shaping to be as active a season as in years past. But we're growing with the continued success of Team Dragons and Team Aiya Jrs!!! We had members competing in DC and Montreal with other crews. We expect our racing to pickup after Peter's wedding! Wild yeah [shhhh! it's a secret]. We look forward to sending members to the Princeton races, teams to Lowell, Pawtucket, Hartford races. By the end of the year Maria and Doug will be expecting a family addition before the year is out!.

Vt - September 19

Following the drenching of Ivan at the Hartford races, several of the more adventurous continued northward to the hills of Chittenden, Vermont to help the Machestic Dragons with their Friendship race with other BCS crews. These brave drenched souls were treated with a brisk but picturesque day in the minis with some experiences which included building a fire! Thanks to the Vt and Md folks who treated us to room and board!

Hartford, Ct - September 18

No pics of this event. Imagine 5" of rain in 5 hours. Imagine conditions so harsh, the organizers shortened the event to just one race for all teams finishing the day's races by 11AM. Pressuring crews to perform well in their only heat to determine their standings, Team Dragons, Team Aiya and Philly Spirit combined to finish with the day's best time before lightning stopped the day before the final two heats hit the water in calmer conditions. By the time the final two heats finished, their time held up to maintain a hold to 2nd (behind Women In Canoe/Wall Street) in the club division, with the 3rd best overall time, coming away with 3rd in the New England Challenge - Hartford. The Tsunami Dragons finished 5th in the club division with our NJDBC members. Great job folks! Stay dry!
