Evaluating the outcomes after any intervention or therapy is required to determine the need for further actions and the effectiveness of the intervention provided. For example, when I am in placement a patient had pain, for which his PRN pain relief medication was provided after pain assessment. After 30 mins I went to evaluate the outcome of the pain relief administration. I asked the patient about his pain but the outcome was not as desired. He still had pain so I talked with my buddy RN and referred him to the doctor about his pain. Further investigation was done and he was found to have appendicitis. Timely evaluation of outcomes saved his life and he was headed to operation theater without any delay. So, in Nursing practice, the evaluation of outcomes for the care provided is very important. I have demonstrated this throughout my placements and also in the workplace when working as an assistant in nursing.
