Larry Steven Berglan, 68, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014. Larry was born March 10, 1946, in Norman, the son of Augustus Eugene and Mary Lucille (Alexander) Berglan.Larry attended Norman High School, where he was an excellent athlete, lettering in football and basketball and playing baseball. After attending high school, Larry joined a music band called “The Juveniles” and moved to Seattle, where they toured for many years before moving back to Norman to continue his education, earning a BBA from the University of Oklahoma. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and involved in the Army ROTC program.Following his graduation from OU, Larry moved to Houston to work for an importing firm for a time before moving back to Norman to open and operate “The Men’s Shop” for many years.A man of many talents, with a vast knowledge and interest in different successful industries, Larry also worked in computer sales, U.S. Government Electronic Sales, started Vanguard USA, Meridian Properties and several convenience stores, before owning and operating Medical Specialties, which he sold in 2012.He was very active in many organizations, including Emmaus Baptist Church, YMCA and the Norman Chamber of Commerce, where he served on the board, South OKC Chamber of Commerce and a member of Willow Creek Golf and Belmar Golf and Country Clubs, where he was an avid golfer.Larry was also glad to participate in the reunion of The Juveniles music group in 1999. He fell in love and later married Ramona Gayle Canaday on Feb 9, 2013. Larry always pursued life with great zeal and made the most of opportunity that came his way. He was a loving husband, father and friend who was always happy to help those in need. He will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Mona Berglan of the home; children Joshua Tyler Berglan, Zachary Taylor Berglan, Shawn Kaplan and Nikki Simpon; five grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends.

Viewing will be 4 to 8 p.m. today and Friday with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
