Joe Drilling

Joe William Drilling, 70 of Warr Acres, OK, passed peacefully to his heavenly home on June 5, 2015.

Services were held June 8, 2015 at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City officiated by minister Jerl Joslin. 

Joe was born in OKC, on January 6, 1945. He graduated from Norman High School and continued his education at UCO. As a boy, he was involved in 4-H and won many awards with his cows, pigs and chickens. He held many jobs in his life, and always advanced to management positions. He operated the family business, Accurate Hearing Aid and Optical, with his mother Kathy for 27 years. Joe loved the outdoors, and when he retired, got his "fun" job working at the hunting and fishing counter at Academy. He also loved OU football and watching the games with his family.

Joe loved the Lord and helping people; he was a "professional" volunteer. He served as the President of Capitol Hill Lions Club, Secretary for the National Hearing Aid Association, an instructor of the OK Wildlife Department's Aquatic Resources Education program, as a deacon at Forest Hill Christian Church, and also helped many organizations including: Big brothers/big sisters, Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce, and Deconess Hospital.  

Joe married Linda Holloway on August 26, 1967; they were married 48 years.

Joe is survived by his wife Linda; daughter Holly Clay and husband Joe of Shawnee; and daughter, Heather Nunn and husband Anthony of Noble.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents Kathy Drilling and Joe James, and step father Sam Drilling; his sisters Cheryl Slipais and Patty Rogers.

He was the greatest husband, Daddy, father-in-law, and friend and will be missed by many.
