Hi Scouts !
It's finally time to gather for the greatest adventure you may ever experience ! The National Scout Jamboree is in 7 days from now. But we are leaving 5 days from now. And, everyone must be ready.
Inform your families that the Troop Website will be our form of sharing communications with them while we are at the Jamboree. It will also be the location to get the final time for our return arrival to Manchester after the Jamboree. So get them familiar with the site.
Review the following items:
Read over all the information on the Troop Website. I am not repeating it here. It is all valuable.
Pack appropriately. Check the list on the Troop Website. You only have your day-pack and duffel bag to pack in.
Bring your photo ID.
Bring your Troop neckerchief slide. You will receive your Jamboree Scout neckerchief on Monday and will need a slide.
Pack only Scout appropriate clothing ....and definitely bring a waterbottle !!
Arrive at Camp Carpenter at between 5:00 and 5:15AM (that's in the morning !) for check-in and final review of gear and paperwork. If any paperwork is missing, bring it with you ! You will not get on the bus without it. That includes Medical Forms completed.
Come dressed in your Class A uniform with your Class B shirt underneath. While on the bus, you may be in your Class B's. But, no one will leave the bus until everyone is back into their Class A uniform. We will wait ! Help your buddies to follow this requirement and encourage them to be prompt. Also, please understand right now this is a non-negotiable item.
If you wish to stay overnight at Camp Carpenter on Friday nite so you don't have to get up early from your house, arrive at Camp Carpenter with your gear between 6 - 8pm and check in at the Jewett Center (Ground Floor of the dining hall).
While on the bus:
There will be a lot of other information to share when we get on the bus and as we travel to the Jamboree. To make sure everything is understood by all, please act like Scouts and be cooperative so we all can have fun. Scouts live by the Scout Oath and Law ! I hope I don't need to remind anyone of that.
Keep the bus clean. Put your trash in the trash bags. Keep your gear with you in your bags.
Our return location will be in Manchester Industrial Park which is on the way to Camp Carpenter. The address will be "Bedford Design, 177 East Industrial Park Drive". Go to the Google Maps link below:
We will be coming back to the unused building at 177 E. Industrial Drive across from the Manchester Fire Department location. The sign is Bedford Graphics and there is also a large real estate sign. Parents should use the back parking lot so that the buses can have room to off load the baggage.
We have had a lot if issues and items to coordinate and learn over the last 8 months since our first Contingent and Troop Meeting. We were all uncomfortable and didn't know anyone. We are now a team and need to act like one. So we are finally ready for some fun ....you have earned it. But for now, I have one last request for everyone to bring...... bring your Scouting Spirit ! See you all Saturday morning !
Yours in Scouting,
