June 4th, 5th & 6th Pre-Jamboree Weekend

Post date: May 8, 2010 11:02:56 PM

Our next Jamboree Troop Meeting is scheduled for June 4th, 5th & 6th at Camp Bell. This is the mandatory pre-Jamboree weekend. Scouts should arrive on Friday between 4 and 5PM. The earlier the better so that there's plenty of time to set up your tent and get settled in daylight.

Please pack for this weekend as if you were going to the Jamboree (but you may need fewer changes of clothes since it's only 2 nights). Consult the packing list to know what you should bring (click here for the list).

All meals will be provided. However, Scouts should bring their own drinks for the Friday night campfire (note: some other Troops may not be providing dinner on Friday night; consult your SPL if your not in Troop 123 (Red)).

Scouts will be departing Camp Bell for home at roughly 4PM on Sunday. All parents are expected to be present for pick up on Sunday so that they can receive final Jamboree instructions and information. This will be the last opportunity for the Scouts and parents to get information face-to-face.

Camp Bell is 1 mile from Hidden Valley Scout Camp, further down on the same road.

The address is:

Camp Bell - GSR

2A Eileen Shore Road

Gilmanton Iron Works, NH 03837

Be careful using GPS systems for directions as they frequently bring you down roads in the area that are impassable (trust me on this; I have first hand experience).

Directions:

From the East, Southeast or Northeast: Take the most convenient route to Alton NH. Turn west onto Route 140, go 5.6 miles to Gilmanton Iron Works Village.

From the North, South and West: Route 93 to Exit 20 to Route 140 toward Belmont to Gilmanton.

    • Traveling West on Rt. 140, after the Gilmanton IW Village: go .3 miles and turn right onto Crystal Lake Road.

    • Traveling East on Rt. 140 After crossing Rt. 107 go 6.3 miles on Rt. 140 and turn left onto Crystal Lake Road.

    • Soon after turning onto Crystal Lake Road, bear left at the fork, travel 3 miles and turn right onto Places Mill Road. Travel ½ mile and turn left into the Griswold Scout Reservation Entrance.

    • Once entering the Camp, follow the signs to Camp Bell (not Hidden Valley)
