A Boundary Stone, occasionally referred to as a Terminus by well-versed scholars or the Fair Folk themselves, is the light of the soul; a sacred place in which none may enter. While this is the tentative definition, breaches of a Boundary Stone are possible, and the side effects to the victim are often devastating. In the modern age, the breaching and damage to one of them is often thought to be the only means a mortal has to depose or dispose of one of the more powerful Fair Folk.
Their range can vary from being a mere few feet to miles of influence, but typically a Boundary Stone's reach averages around twenty feet in all directions. Cooperation between multiple similar ones increases the range exponentially, the product of such unions often referred to as part of the Otherworld. A Boundary Stone's power and effect is limited despite its strength, manifesting as an actualization of the owner's soul and the ideals contained within. Generally, it involves terrain alteration or temporarily affecting the natural laws of the world within its range.
Well-known Boundary Stones include but are not limited to:
Otherworld: An expansive Boundary Stone existing as the actualization of all the Fair Folk's combined light. Although it once existed across the entire planet, certain areas no longer contain it. Such places include the capitol of Regnum Borealis and the more settled areas around it, and the Wastes that makeup the eastern most part of Area Oriens where a dragon was once slain. While hearsay and legend claims the Otherword does indeed exist, much of the human race chooses to disavow its presence as nonsense because only a remarkably slim few can truly even glimpse it.
