Syllabus Middle School PreAlgebra – Semester 1
PreAlgebra (6th, 7th and 8th grades)
The focus of this course will be on Basic PreAlgebra concepts. Use of the Prentice Hall text is not required to attend the course as the topics will be covered as standalone subjects. Topics to be covered are Algebraic Expressions, Solving one step equations and inequalities, Decimals and Equations, Fractions and Exponents, Fractions,
Ratios, Proportions, Percentages, Solving Equations, Linear Functions and Graphing, Spatial Thinking, Area, Volume, Right Triangles Data Analysis and Probability, Nonlinear and Polynomials
Textbook Requirement: PreAlgebra (Prentice Hall)
Attendance: Once a week for 1 hour on scheduled Academic Boost classroom days, 12 days per semester.
