Unit 3: A More Perfect Union
Can freedom be a blessing and a curse at the same time? By 1783, Americans were jubilant over their new-found independence from the British empire. However, independence presented an entirely new challenge for America. What kind of government would be set up? Having rid themselves of a monarchy, could ordinary American citizens now be entrusted with power? If so, how much? In 1787, it was clear that the A.O.C. needed to be revised. After 4 long, hot months, the United States Constitution was ratified. However, many controversies surrounded the ratification of the Constitution. We will be learning about WHY the Constitution Convention was held along with some background on the delegates who attended.
