The school leader supports and implements the vision of Wolf Creek Public Schools at their respective sites.
2023-24
2023-24 Reflection: My 2023-24 PD plan relfects a dedication to this domain.
2022-23
2022-23 Reflection: This domain is really a mandate that I feel is important to follow as a collaborative team member of Wolf Creek Public Schools. The school division has it's yearly plans that very closely align with my school plans. This enables me to collaborate with divsion office staff and my admin collegues to gather information and provide feedback on directions. It also enables me to collect information, resources and ideas that I can use and take back to my staff to further support and complete our school goals. This would include:
ELE work at admin meetings
Principal Cohort lessons on Inclusion and FNMI resources
Admin PLTs
ACE plan support and guidance
Feedback from other admin on how they share Wolf Creek's info with their parent groups.
I believe that in order to be an active and effective administration in Wolf Creek Public Schools I also have to be part of the Wolf Creek team and support the direction the school division is moving. This will ensure further support for my school, my staff and my students.
2021-22
2021 Reflection: Supporting the Wolf Creek Vision has always be a guiding domain for much of the work I have done in a school. Specifically this year as a stand alone administer without an admin team, I have had to really dive into all parts of the Wolf Creek vision as I have worked on my assurance and ACE plans. In year's past where I have been part of an admin team we have split areas of the Wolf Creek plan up to work at in the school. As single administer of a school I feel this has enabled me to further understand division directions and be better informed of the decisions that are made. I feel I am better able to clearly articulate the School Division's vision and as a result I have a better understand of school division vocabulary and processes.
Area for Growth:
I want to continue to work on ways to inform my school community so all stakeholders understand the divisions and school's goals and directives.
2013/14
I believe I have met that criteria by doing the following:
"Before starting at LCHS, Jay started to work with the ELE model. He approached the Diamond Team for assistance and guidance in understanding our current goals."
"Considering this is your first year with this division it impresses me with how well versed you are in regards to understanding and implementing the Wolfcreek vision"
With this being my first year within Wolfcreek and in a leadership position I wanted to make sure that I was able to effectively converse on the vision of Wolfcreek. I actively engage with staff members in conversations about their planning in relation to the ELE model. I like to challenge staff in their thinking and really engage each other in conversations about learning. I do my best to model an Excellent Learning Environment and help staff members to research about effective methods to implement in their classrooms such as Project Based Learning and the difference between it and just doing projects.
As I was able to dive into and deepen my understanding of ELEs through my own unit plans and divisional PD I believe I was able to be a more effective sounding board and active participant in the ELE unit reflections and plans with staff. I strongly believe I was able to transition from a leader by title only from the beginning to the year to a leader of action who could actively support and work with my staff in their ELE plans.
2014/15
During the second year of my administrative placement I felt a lot more comfortable with vision and direction of Wolfcreek. Through the development of my blended Science 14/24 course, which I built specifically around the structures of the ELEs, I was really able to become very well versed in Wolfcreek's instructional guidelines. As a result in the second year of my administrative position I felt a lot more confident in supporting staff members through the ELEs and how they integrate their classes. Within my second year I also felt like I was able to contribute more to the school's ACE plan and the goals within it. I worked with our school's coaches and other administrators to develop and build our CRM process. We developed plans to triangulate data within the CRM and effectively utilize the STAR literacy screens and the information from them.
2015/16
Area 1: Continuation of CRM Process on Aligned Calendar Fridays
CRM Software- Full implementation for all CRM Teams
I took one of the lead positions within our school on understanding, working with and rolling out the CRM software to staff. I have worked closely with Jigsaw learning on the proper utilization of the software and how it can effectively collect data and share it.
Area 2: Continuation of Literacy Focus for K-12
STAR Benchmarking (twice)
I set up and run all of our STAR benchmarking. Students are scheduled into labs twice a year. Staff have been given PD on the software which includes how to access it and use the information contained in it.
Area 3: Refinement of intervention processes and strategies
School-Based Pyramids of Intervention-reflection/revision
Intervention Teams-full implementation
As a diamond team we worked collaboratively to all come to a common understanding of the tiers of intervention and the supports offered at each. As a diamond team we have worked with staff to build their understanding and capacity within the tiers of intervention and how to move students through the tiers.
Area 4: High School Redesign
Focus on the foundational principals and how they can help our school become more student centered.
We are always asking "are students becoming active, engaged and successful participants in an increasingly knowledge-based and globalized society"
"Jay is the ultimate professional. I do not need to attend the meetings he attends to know that he will conduct himself in the most positive way possible and exert every effort to support and implement the vision of Wolf Creek within the community."
