Part 1 -

Watch Faith Jegede Ted talk of her two brothers afflicted with Autism. What has she learned about this disease through her experience with her brothers.

• Why does she say they are both extraordinary?
• What did you learn about the disease?
• How do you think this disease has changed her life?
• Compare Faith's experience with a person in your life that challenged you and yet despite the challenge has made you a better person - Explain

Part 2

Watch Wendy Chung's fascinating TED Talk. In a two page written paper discuss what we know and we do not about this disease:

Topics to include

• Why does she believe autism is not caused by vaccinations? Based on an outside source - cite the source support or refute this point
• Why has there been a rapid increase in diagnosis since 1980? What factors have contributed to this?
• What does she mean there is a spectrum of causes?
• What role has prenatal development played in understanding the etiology of autism?
• What approach does she take in understanding this disease? Explain
• How are the experts trying to catch this much earlier in development - so they can treat it much earlier?
