Spring is here.
Zululand is lovely at this time of the year.
The weather is mild and there is a promise of rain soon – we hope.
Winter is always dry, dusty and quite desolate.
But the small communities in
Sovane, KwaDla-Kuse and Maphambeni
were blessed with abundance this year.
St. Michael’s Anglican Church in Umhlanga (Durban)
collected beautiful hand knitted jerseys, crochet blankets, clothes, brand new blankets, toys, toiletries
and even a lap top computer during a Winter Drive.
A special thanks to parishioner Mary Hardy who made,
and encouraged others to sew, close to 80 little track suit tops.
We did three deliveries from June to September.
The generosity was overwhelming
and the joy and appreciation from the children and parents was enormous.
In addition, John and Lynda Oldham from the UK brought three suitcases filled with hand knitted jerseys, home-made toys and soccer gear for Prince Bhekintinta High School in Sovane.
This was an amazing effort to carry all this from England to the remote areas of Zululand. Chloe and Daniel helped their grandparents to pack the cases, and they donated clothes and toys.
Thank you so much!
The children in the 3 crèches range from 2 to 5 years.
Baby clothes were donated to the clinic in Sovane.
The joy of giving is one of the most precious gifts, without the kindness and commitment from our church members and friends
we would not be able to do this.
