We have been so blessed by the kindness of many people.
Beletha Foundation has given us financial support for many years. This money is used to purchase food and stationery.
If funds are available we have sent teachers for training at T.R.E.E.
None of this money is used for adminstrative costs and ALL funds go directly to the community.
John and Lynda Oldham from the UK have been so loyal to this community since they first came as guests to Milimani Game Sanctuary in 2003.
Over the years they have donated soccer uniforms, stationery and cash. This year alone they posted (!) soccer uniforms from the UK (at great expense, I might add!!), they then arrived in Zululand with orange fleeces for the soccer team, stationery and games for the creche and a handfull of cash!!!
Thanks to: Rob Hetherington, Friends Life Sports and Social Secretary in Bristol donated the AXA and Sun Life shirts; Yatton Junior Football Club in North Somerset donated fleeces and other kit; The Cleeve Friendship Lunch Coffee Morning raised money to help with postage; Dave and Lin Mortimer donated money for postage and helped with sorting and packing. Lin washed all the kit (some of it twice, so that it met her standards!) before it was sent!
Your continued friendship and commitment to the remote dwellings of Zululand is so appreciated!!
Phillipa Murray lives on Estate II at Mount Edgecombe Country Club. Every now and again it's as if a fairy godmother delivers a load of pressies for the kids. They are always in immaculate condition and in great abundance!! There is never a note or a great shout to say 'hey, look what we have done!' The generosity of this family is given with such sincerity and humbleness.
Thank you.
Phillipa left toys on my doorstep which I split between LIV (Lungisisa Indlela Village) in Veralum and Zululand. The soft toys and English books have gone to the ophans at LIV, and the balance have come to Zululand. We delivered food and toys today and watched overwhelmed kids dive into the bag of goodies.
Half clad barbie dolls were carried around by their blonde locks, bling hand-bags, toy trains and tiarias to turn the dustiest little princess into a precious sight.
CPS Seeds in Pongola again donated spinach seedlings and growing medium. The 2-litre bottle scheme has been a little disappointing. I think the community poo-pooed it from the beginning, so during the school holidays little attention was paid to these struggling plants. Needless to say they look desperate and certainly aren't going to feed anyone!! The ground veges have done fairly well, but as water and bad soil continue to be a problem, they too aren't the healthiest. We will give the 2-litre bottles one more go. Bheki will mix cattle manure into the growing medium and make sure they are watered!!!!!!
This was our last delivery for 2012. Schools break up in December.
Thanks to all those that have supported the Milimani Educational Trust, and although it continues to be a 'fishes and five loaves' project - the impact of the little that we do is enormous for this community.
