As a principal, I will lead a school that will foster personal growth, creativity, lifelong learning, and academic excellence. I will embrace diversity, hold high expectations for all, and make a difference in the lives of the students.
In guiding our school, I will be a leader who brings a learning community together to share leadership. I will look and build upon where our school is now, where we see it in the future and how we are going to get there. I want the school vision to be a mutual, shared vision among every school community member.
I will be a principal who leads learning to improve outcomes for all students in our school. I will “walk the talk” to create conditions for effective teaching and learning. I will use my ability to build strong relationships with others to develop our school as a learning organization, making connections and building networks so we can learn from those around us.
I believe schools need to have a positive climate and a supportive culture. All members of our school community will need to be on the same page, for everyone to contribute to our policies, our systems and our goals. I want to see teachers and students take ownership for our school environment and creating our own unique school culture.
As a principal I want to lead a school that has an energy and school spirit that everyone wants to be a part of. I will create an environment where students are motivated because they feel safe, valued, loved, inspired and challenged. I believe in creating an environment where staff are motivated through recognition, challenges and personal and professional growth. Our school will welcome and include all members of the community.
I will consistently strive to be a transformational leader who inspires positive change in my community – energetic, enthusiastic and passionate about the children and teachers I work with. At the heart of my leadership will be these four qualities:
manaakitanga (focused on student learning and well-being)
pono (having self-belief and committed to improvement)
ako (building learning relationships and keeping a passion for my own learning alive)
awhinatanga (valuing others, building trust and supporting others to step up as leaders)
