Event Details
The Grand Ridge Road Randonnée is a very rewarding ride through some very spectacular scenery traveling through some very remote areas of the Strzelecki Hills on the Grand Ridge Road.
There are several sections of unsealed gravel road, the longest of which being 45km on the section between Mirboo North and Balook. These unsealed roads vary in condition and quality.
Due to remoteness of the route, the long distances between towns, and low traffic riders should be prepared accordingly carrying everything they are likely to need for the journey. Food & water, repair kit and spares, and wet weather gear is a must. During the first 130km, between Yarragon and Traralgon South, the route passes through only one town with shops at Mirboo North.
The route takes a back road from Yarragon to Sea View where it joins the Grand Ridge Road, which it follows almost all the way to Balook in the Tarra Bulga State Park. Then drops down to Boolarra South before cutting back to Yarragon via Thorpdale and Childers, on scenic back roads.
