Only one goalie has ever won back-to-back Cups in the VMA. And its the Great Griffin (2012-13). Now Helltown did win back-to-back titles, but those were half seasons. And not to diminish any accomplishment of another club, but winning two (2) consecutive full season Cups is a hell of an feat. No other team has done it. Only the Source. And only one goalie. Griffin.
He is listed at 6'6 but those who have seen him at ice level claim he's closer to 7'1 or 7'2. With wings like a condor, they say Griffin could expand to not only cover the net, but could reach from one end of the goal line to the other touching both sides of the boards at once. His 3.80GAA in 2013-14 is the 3rd lowest GAA in VMA history. Over a 3yr stretch (2012-14), Griffin would compile a a record of (38-12-4). Only two other VMA legends have ever had better: Dunn's (52-14-3) from ('08-10) and Nogast (50-15-6) from ('08-10).
As the Source shifted to become the DJCC in 2013, contract negotiations where ongoing. But after two straight one-year deals, dialogue broke down and the Great Griffin left at the end of 2015. Rumor has it he has a strong affection for porcelain owl figurines, and likes to spend his free time writing fan mail to the cast of his favorite soap opera, General Hospital.
