All pitch sequences are diatonic to the scale range for each voice part (e.g. the Soprano sequences can all be found in the key of E-flat, alto C, etc.) Pitch sequences should be sung on a neutral syllable (the adjudicator may need to provide an example of “neutral syllable” to the student), such as “doo,” “loo,” etc.Students will be hearing a piano track playing 3 consecutive pitches (half notes at approx. 100bpm)
Sightread a 4-measure stepwise melody using moveable Do through So with quarter and half notes. Students may sing using solfege syllables, numbers, or on "loo" or "la". Sopranos sight read in Treble Clef Eb Major. Altos sightread in Treble Clef C Major. Baritones and tenors will sight-read using the scale key chosen in Bass Clef. Students will hear an arpeggio before they begin. Students can choose their own tempo or can ask to be counted in.
