Band Auditions 2025-2026

Wind & Brass Audition Requirements

• Concert Bb, Concert Eb, and Chromatic Scales 

• Performed using the rhythms, tempo, and ranges indicated on the audition sheet music

• Etude (linked below)

• Short sight reading excerpt

Percussion Audition Requirements

Percussion students choose a primary instrument to audition on- either Snare OR Mallets.

Students who select MALLETS will perform:

• 12 measure mallet etude

• 4 measure crash cymbal excerpt

• 4 measure bass drum excerpt

• Option 1 (timpani)  OR Option 2 (triangle, tambourine, woodblock)  OR Option 3 (snare excerpt)

• Short sight reading excerpt
  
  

Students who select SNARE will perform:

• 12 measure snare etude

• 4 measure crash cymbal excerpt

• 4 measure bass drum excerpt

• Option 1 (timpani)  OR Option 2 (triangle, tambourine, woodblock) OR Option 3 (mallet excerpt)

• Short sight reading excerpt
  
  

All percussion equipment is provided other than drum sticks. Timpani will be tuned for students. Mallet players will have the choice of playing on bells or xylophone at their audition.
