Administratively Maiden Bradley is part of Wiltshire County Council; at the northern end of the area covered by Salisbury District Council; and for the purposes of community development part of Mere and District. The formal name of the Parish Council is ‘Maiden Bradley with Yarnfield’*, but there is no longer a separate Yarnfield community, and for most practical purposes the name is disregarded.

*Formerly in the county of Somerset, it [Yarnfield] was transferred to Wiltshire in 1895 and is a hamlet of the parish of Maiden Bradley.
