Chapter 3 - The Clicking Thing in My Skull

Agiope was able to retrieve the Aztec dagger without trouble. And the cabal was able to escape from the Seer facility without permanent harm to the security guards that tried to stop them. While Ralph kept insisting that the cabal return to Bristol, Matlock's silver tongue and Agiope's psychotic rants convinced them to stay in San Antonio to try and discover the secret of the dagger. The cabal traced the last death caused by the dagger back to the suburb where the shootout with the Seers had occurred earlier in the day. Blocked by terrified but well armed suburbanites, Agiope, Blitz, and Jughead were able to sneak into the victim's house, while Iceman, Matlock and Phreak returned to the car and Diesel. Conversing with the ghost of the victim as well as the spirit of his large screen television, it was discovered that Andromeda, the Seer that had escaped in the previous gun battle, had used the dagger to release an Ancient Meso-American Spirit of Flesh-Eating, and sent it into San Antonio. Trying to track her movements further, Blitz ran afoul of the terrified but well armed suburbanites, and the cabal was forced to flee. Matlock was able to scry on Andromeda, who was heading towards Bristol. Matlock was also forced to shoot Phreak in the head before contact was broken. Magically arriving in Bristol before Andromeda, the cabal was confronted with sounds of gunfire out at the Old Quarry, but decided to try and stop the Seer before looking for any new trouble. Heading over to the highway, Phreak caused a car full of old people to crash, while Agiope killed the engine on Andromeda's car. Agiope then ran off into the night. After a protracted Mage battle involving much Celestial Fire and Cyanide Gas, Andromeda was killed, her children discovered to be dolls, and her husband a teen-age Goth Mage. Who faked her death a second time to lure the cabal into a third cyanide cloud, and killed herself yet again. Through the help of another local mage and her library of mystical knowledge, the cabal was able to cast a counterspell, and the good citizens of San Antonio stopped eating each other. Mostly. The gun battle at the quarry eventually wound down, and everyone went home.
