House Rules

Pledges

Most Pledges, unless carefully considered and enacted, only require two aspects to be discussed, those of Duration and Task, such as:

"Until tomorrow night, we watch each others backs".

The missing factors are generally supplied by the Wyrd, often falling into the categories of Glamour, Ensorcelment or Favor as Boons, with Sanctions of Poisoning,Curse or Flaw.

Wyrd

Wyrd is not purchased like other abilities with XP. Instead, Fate Points are accumulated towards advancement, and when a threshold is achieved, your character's Wyrd increases. A number of points equal to five times your current rating is needed to increase Wyrd.

Experience Debt

One allowance made is that your pool of available experience points for advancement can be spent below zero in the following cases:

    • You are within a reasonable distance of a large purchase, such as having 22 of 25 points needed to buy your fifth dot in an Attribute

    • You are needing to back-fill Skills and Merits at character creation to complete a concept

    • Two or more purchases make sense in conjunction, such as purchasing Status: Medical, Medicine: Trauma Surgery and Resources (Doctor)

Generally, Debt should be kept to ten points or less, or else a character may feel "stalled out" while they pay it off. You can not spend any XP until all previous Debt has been paid.
