Following an enquiry in early summer 2015 for making 4 bridesmaids dresses, initial designs were discussed for an intended wedding later in the year. My customer (the bride 'T') informed me that she had been unable to find exactly the colour & style of outfit she wanted for different aged girls (between 4 & 13). These 4 bridesmaids were to synergise with her adult one who would be wearing a full-length dress. She had seen a dress 'ready-made & on-line' that was perfect in its bodice colouring but the skirt was only knee-length & did not appear to be quite a perfect colour match to the adult 'maid-of-'honour'. She also wanted the dresses to be suitable for each bridesmaid's age & personality; informed me that only the eldest bridesmaid lived locally & the others (living some considerable distance away) would only be able to attend for one fitting.
After our first meeting, an outline sketch silhouette & 'outfit' description were agreed. Based on the fact that the short on-line dresses (see right) were ideal apart from the skirt length & colouring, I suggested that it may be best to obtain the dresses as PART of the bridesmaid's outfit & a full-length overskirt could be made to be worn over it.
