ARIS-querque-opoly

Monopoly. Everyone has played it. We all know how it works. After over a century since the first concept of simulated tax theory was introduced as an interactive game, dozens of property name variations, and a number of alternative game formats, the design is still solid. Using the Monopoly’s place-based competitive property management model as a starting point I want to adapt it for the ARIS platform in order to include more interactivity and travel into the game play.

Since the game play and mechanics can be extrapolated to fit the ARIS format, I would also like to spend time trying to take this beyond an event type of game session. There are already thoughts of having time limits for property management, and cycles of game play to hopefully allow players to jump into a game rather than having to catch up and be hit with excessive taxes. The coding for this is already being explored.

Beyond working with ARIS in trying to make this a self-sustaining game, I would hope to gain a better understanding of Albuquerque through the eyes of property management. Which parts of the city are more developed than others? Where are Albuquerque’s Mediterranean Avenues and Boardwalks? If we had to sum up the city’s economical range of notable locations in 40 properties which ones would we choose? Could we potentially get those places to collaborate with the monopoly game through advertisement?

The city is our game board, let’s play.
