So you have decided to come to your first LARP event you have read about the World and read the Rules but you have questions, well I hope to answer a few of the Frequently Asked Questions here if you need more details or have other questions then of course you can email one of the committee and we will get back to you as quickly as I can.
What is LARP?
LARP is an acronym for Live Action Roleplay (isn't the English language wonderful). A quick Google search will tell you it is a type of role-playing game in which participants physically act out scenarios, typically using costumes and props. You can also read here on Wikipedia the history of LARP in England.
What genre/style/era of time is the Legends Jersey LARP System set in?
The LARP system is loosely based on JRR Tolkiens world from Lord of the Rings. When you think of designing a character or script please have this in mind. We are generally accepting of a lot of things in LARP but we would like to stick to what is typically known as High Fantasy, Low Technology time frame. A good historic time frame or reference books are King Arthur or Robin Hood.
What do I need to do before my first Adventure or Tavern?
Before your first Adventure or Tavern you will need to complete the Disclaimer Form found here. If you are under 18 but over 16 then you will need to ask a Parent or Guardian to sign the form.
I want to create a Character how do I do that?
Before your first Adventure you should contact the BattleBoarder and spend your initial 20 points. We strongly suggest for your first character you think about making a fighter and dependent on your play style we suggest either for the following builds. The builds will give you a survivability as well as getting you into combat.
Human
Body 2 - 4 Points
Bladed or Hafted 3 - 4 Points
Armour 2 - 3 Points
Shield 2 - 4 Points
Strength 1 - 3 Point
Literacy - 1 Point
Numeracy - 1 Point

What should I wear to my first Adventure or Tavern?
For your first event you probably wont have any LARP kit so we strongly suggest you wear a base layer of black clothing (No Jeans, Picture T-Shirts or Trainers). The longer running members of the LARP system will have spare kit for you to borrow for your first adventure of course you can always put a post on our Facebook group and we can sort kit for you before hand.
Okay so I finished my first adventure and want to invest in the hobby where should I buy kit from?
It is always best to try before you buy but unfortunately living in the Channel islands we don't get much choice unless we make it ourselves or buy used kit from one another. Below are a few websites for Traders that we suggest you look at for inspiration or purchase some of there excellent kit:

They have a long standing history with our club and the sister club of Guernsey. If you speak to Simon Surcoff he generally speaks to the owners a lot and can organise a bulk delivery to save on P&P.

I have this great idea for a script what do I do to get it made into an Adventure?
Ask any of the current members for a hand in expanding your idea into an Adventure. Have a look at the Bestiary to get an idea for standard stats of monsters for your script. Once your Adventure is written submit it to one of the Plot Team and they will sign off on it. Once you have the sign off contact a member of the Committee and they will get you added to the next available slot when the Committee meet (the Wednesday after the month's Adventure). Once that is in you will then need to contact the Monster Kit custodian and let them know what kit and masks you will need for the adventure.
