*Teaching and using this skill is illegal within the lands of Orlaine. You will have to find someone willing and able to teach your character this skill.
This skill allows your character, with the aid of a Poison use kit, to make a variety of poisons in different forms (hereafter simply called “potions”). This skill allows the character to make one potion per skill level and each level of proficiency allows more complex poisons or potions to be created with the kit. You also need the skill Inflict Wounds to use this ability. Poison kits obviously contain harmful ingredients, many of which react with the air, and the contents of a kit will only be usable for a short time. Typically a Poison kit only lasts for the day on which it was opened before the contents are rendered unusable for further poisons. Handling the contents of a Poison kit is dangerous to the inexperienced and no would be poisoner will risk exposure to more toxins than found in a single kit in a single day.
Level One One Rank I Poison Potion, Oil or Salve
Level Two Two Rank II or lower Poison Potions, Oils or Salves
Level Three Three Rank III or lower Poison Potions, Oils or Salves
Level Four Four Rank IV or lower Poison Potions, Oils or Salves
Level Five Five Rank V or lower Poison Potions, Oils or Salves
Level Six Six Rank V or lower Poison Potions, Oils or Salves
Level Seven Seven Rank V or lower Poison Potions, Oils or Salves
If a character reaches Proficiency to level six, they are considered a specialist in the creation and application of poisons and may be approached by guild members for advice. Whilst this has no benefit other than the creation of an additional potion all other skill levels give, this will earn the prestige of certain other guild members (or notoriety amongst the general population). If a character ever reaches level seven in Poison Use, they are now considered masters in this field. They may divide any Weakness potion into two or more potions totalling the same strength. They may also create a further potion from Poison use kits, bringing the total to seven. Within the lands of Orlaine, the use of poisons is considered a criminal offence unless licensed by the Crown. Only the City Rat catchers are licensed and they hold a position of responsibility to kill rats within civilisation.
