This skill enables you design mechanical traps and to disarm those you may encounter whilst adventuring. Traps can vary in complexity between the simple trip wire to a complicated device that drops a victim into a pit of spikes and then pours a vat of boiling oil over him. The only limitation to the design and building of traps is that they must be perfectly harmless in reality. Disarming traps should be quite simple once you have been told how to do it. In practice, it is difficult explaining to someone how to disarm all the traps they may ever come up against. The best that can be done is for an explanation of how the trap's mechanics work is given by the Referee of your adventure. So if you possess this skill and come across a trap while adventuring, tell the Referee that you intend to attempt disarming it. They will then explain to you (once only) the way it works, and from that information, you should be able to work out how to disarm it. The Referee may set off a trap if someone attempts to disarm it without this skill.
