KANSAS TECHNICAL INSTITUTE (TOPEKA, KAN.)
<inactive class> Organized in 1895 as the KANSAS INDUSTRIAL AND EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE, an educational institution soley for African Americans. In 1917 the school was put under the Kansas State Board of Administration and in 1925 the name was changed to: KANSAS VOCATIONAL SCHOOL. In 1917 the name became KANSAS TECHNICAL INSTITUTE AT TOPEKA. The school was abolished in 1955 (1955 Session Laws, ch. 21, sec. 10). This institute is not to be confused with the Kansas Technical Institute (Salina, Kan.).
