Revolution Fly In 1

Graves Park, Sheffield - 16th October 2004

Suddenly everyone seems to have got a Revolution kite now - and so it seemed like a good idea to organize an informal fly in at Graves Park in order to, well, fly our our Revolutions together. And hopefully exchange tips and ideas on flying. And (if I'm honest) see if some kind of team could be formed eventually.

The forecast was not good - rain was coming, but a number of use turned up to give it a go. I got out my Custom Revolution 1.5 and my original Revolution EXP (using the SLE spars). Paul was flying his Revolution 1.5M SLE, Mike with a Revolution 1, and Simon with his Revolution EXP.

Time was spent first sorting out line lengths on the Revolution 1 - it didn't really want to fly unless the bottom (i.e. brake) lines were much shorter. Dave even straightened the handles further to give more precise control.

The wind was very much up and down - not enough for Jay's Airbow (never seems to be enough!) - but flying was possible when the wind blew.

Time seemed to pass very quickly with everyone having a go of various Revolution kites, although we didn't seem to have the chance to try any 'team' flying stuff together.

Eventually the rain that the forecast had threatened arrived. Most people were sensible and had got their kites packed away. As usual I had loads of kites setup: the Custom Revolution SUL, the Revolution EXP and the Custom Revolution 1.5 . Along with the Synergy Deca and Airbra. Therefore this meant I (and all the kites) got really wet.....

But it was worth it and (hopefully) another Sheffield Kite Fliers Revolution Fly In will be held soon. Ideally with a) slightly more wind, and b) slightly less rain.
