The Freevol isn't the easiest kite to assemble, especially on a windy flying field. So in the absence of a manual here is my guide on how to assemble it.
Assembling
Start with the rolled up kite, unroll and take our the long central spars.
Unfold the wing tips, leaving the kite face down (i.e. with the bridles facing the ground). In a strong wind you may need to place 'things' on each wing tip to stop it flapping around.
In turn lift each wing tip and insert a spar into the central 'X' connector - reinforced end to the centre. Ensure that the bridle is in it's correct place whilst doing this - there should be no bridle on the back of the kite, and the perimeter bridle should not be twisted around wing tips.
Now insert the central spars in the wing tip end caps. The first two are easy to do...
... but you have have to really pull on the opposing corners! They do go in... eventually!
Turn it over and voila - the Freevol LX assembled and ready for it's flying lines to be connected.
By the way the bottom of the kite is where the knots for the perimeter bridle - in my case between the two purple wing tips. Or so I have been told.......
Attaching the Flying Lines
The Freevol's bridle is somewhat complicated as the top and bottom wings are attached to each other - so that pulling on the top line as well as pulling the top wing also pushes the bottom wing (try it and you will see what I mean).
The best advice is to take hold of the top and bottom line connection points, one side at a time, and work out if they are twisted or not. Believe it or not it's not too hard to spot......
