Aurora Charter School is a preK-8th grade charter school in south Minneapolis. Our student population is 100% Latino based. The mission of the school is to "operate a center of learning that embraces academic excellence and celebrates the gift of Latino culture." Our school is authorized by Audubon Center of the Northwoods.
Because of our heavy involvement with Audubon, our school has an Environmental Education focus. Below you will find lessons that I have implemented over my time at Aurora Charter School to meet the Environmental Education integration standard. Because I am an English Language Arts teacher, many of my lessons have a reading integration focus and involve global environmental issue articles from NewsELA.com. Each lesson listed below has a little bit different format, but the lessons were integrated with the ELA skill being taught at the time, along with environmental issues that interest the students.
