Juneau Bach Society performs Cantata 147, Jesu, joy of man's desiring.

The Juneau Bach Society will perform Bach cantata 147, "Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben", December 18, at 8 PM, and December 19, at 3 PM, at Northern Light United Church.

Cantata 147 is probably Bach's most often performed choral work, featuring the well-known chorale "Jesu, joy of man's desiring".

In addition to this chorale (performed twice in the cantata), there are movements requiring the talents of virtuosic vocal and instrumental soloists.

Some of Juneau's finest musicians will perform, including soloists Alaska's Kit, Patricia Hull, Jacque Farnsworth, Derrick Grimes, Jay Query, and Philippe Damerval. Instrumental soloists include TJ Hovest, Steve Tada, Lorna Mazoff, and Rosie Humphery. The cantata, for soloists, chorus, and orchestra, will be conducted by Bruce Simonson.

Tickets are available at the usual outlets, and at the door. Adults $15; students and seniors, $5.
