Seth Lazar (Oxford)
Seth Lazar is a Research Associate of the Institute for Ethics, Law, and Armed Conflict at the University of Oxford 2009-2011, and a Retained Lecturer in Political Theory at Pembroke College, University of Oxford from 2007-2009.
Seth attended Ipswich School in Ipswich for his 'A' levels, was in the top three in the country for his Russian 'A' levels and earned distinctions in English and French 'S' Levels (higher qualifications).
He graduated fourth in his class of 263 with a BA in English Language and Literature from Wadham College at the University of Oxford 1999-2002, and was a Frank Knox Fellow at Harvard University where he conducted independent research on Marxism, Development Studies, and Poststructuralist and Postcolonialist theory 2002-2003.
Following the Frank Knox Fellowship, Seth worked on an M.Phil. in Political Theory at the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford where he graduated with the highest average M.Phil. mark in the Politics department 2004-2006, and received his D.Phil in Politics (Political Theory) from the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford in March, 2009.
During his lectureship at Pembroke College he also designed and taught tutorials in Theory of Politics, Ethics, and War and Global Justice for Regent's Park College, St. Hugh's College, St. Peter's College, St. Hilda's College, and Wycliffe Hall at the University of Oxford. He was a brilliant and engaging teacher who could get right down to the core of students ideas and critique their analysis.
Seth Lazar is also an avid photographer, some of his work is on display at www.oxford-panoramas.co.uk, and traveled with his wife, Lu, an aspiring travel writer, to 42 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, Central and North America between 2002 and 2010.
