32 golfers played competed for the Marshall Hall Cup held at Gog Magog on Friday 22nd July. Although there was a little early morning drizzle, the golfers enjoyed mostly bright sunny weather, a welcome change for the rain of 2015.
The winner of the Marshall Hall Cup was Simon Adelman with a score of 40 stapleford points in a round that included back-to-back birdies. The runner up was Jonathan Mayer with 36 points. The Posnett Salver was closely contested with both John Scott and Peter Scott-Graham both scoring 30 points off the same age. Peter was however declared the winner by 4 months! The winners of the afternoon foursomes were Duncan Moore and Nigel Snaith with 22 points closely followed by Bill Blyth and John Parker on 21 points.
The golfers were honoured by the presence of the Chairman of the Johnian Society, Graham Spooner for dinner on Thursday evening and the immediate Past President, Colin Greenhalgh on Friday. The trophies were presented by the current President of the Johnian Society, Sir Roger Palin.
