Artifact: Weekly Lesson Plans
Reflection: Although I have a broad plan for instruction through the year with our grade level's scope and sequence, I break my planning into weekly chunks to make it more manageable and applicable to the daily growth of students. Each week as I plan for our whole group instructional times, I look at the data from the previous week in combination with the pacing document from our team. This helps ensure my whole group instruction is meaningful for my students and in line with the remainder of the grade level. In addition to the broad topics intended to be taught or titles, I do additional planning with sticky notes within the documents or resources specific for that teaching. For example, I may have just a title on the lesson plans, but will have additional guiding questions and a learning target specified on my teaching materials for that day. Using digital planning tools allows me to have a template for plans set up and provides for ease of planning in advance or adjusting plans to meet student needs. Ensuring that my lesson plans are living documents that help guide my instruction and preparation is a strong example of my effective planning.
