Description
This artifact is a copy of a presentation I helped prepare and present to our school board in collaboration with our building's PLC Leaders. Building presentations to the board is a yearly expectation in our district and serves as an opportunity to articulate the work we are doing in our school, engage our community, and promote a positive image of our school.
Reflection
The building leader must be prepared to communicate the purpose and needs of the school with all stakeholders, including families and the school board. Preparing a visual presentation that includes visuals, text, and embedded video ensures our story is shared in an easily understood way. In many cases, the leader needs to share the same information across stakeholder groups, so planning for clear communication is vital to articulate issues to everyone involved.

Description
This artifact is a news story shared on our local news station and highlighted one of the teachers in my building. As the Teaching & Learning Coordinator for the building, I received the request from the media and coordinated the connection between the news and my teacher. While the news crew was on site, I stayed close to ensure that the story matched the image we hoped to present to the community.
Reflection
The building leader needs to set and monitor the messaging about the building. When there are opportunities for news stories to shed a positive light on the teaching and learning happening in the building, the leader should embrace the opportunity while ensuring that the story shared aligns with the goals of the building.
Subcompetencies: 2, 4
Description
This artifact is the Facebook page for our elementary school. In my current role, I serve as the manager of our social media - particularly Facebook. Prior to my involvement, the school's only social media presence was on Twitter/X. I proposed moving to Facebook to engage our families and community better, recognizing the need to share information in the space where our families engage most frequently.
Reflection
The building leader must recognize the communication methods that the school stakeholders need and then use media to shape the school's positive image. Maintaining a presence for the school in public spaces like social media also allows the school to quickly address misperceptions or respond to critical issues in the community.
