Teaching Philosophy Statement
My teaching practices are centered on the understanding that all students can learn and succeed when given the appropriate tools to do so. Within my classroom community student strengths are celebrated and instruction is tailored to meet individual needs. Differentiation, indeed all instruction, occurs in response to assessment data. I view myself as a learning coach within the classroom and cherish the opportunities where my students are able to shine as leaders and teachers themselves, especially while utilizing technology sources. I want students to feel confident about their areas of strength and understand the process required for improvement in all areas. I teach my students both explicitly and by example that the two keys to forward progress in life are working hard and respecting others. These two ideas are at the heart of everything I do as a teacher.
