Student Behavior Action Plan: This artifact, a student action plan, is an example of a tool I have used to help my students develop skills of self-regulation as we increase positive social interactions. The action plan is introduced to students as an accommodation when a behavior is distracting from the learning environment. By self-identifying the problem and causes, students must take ownership over their behavior and begin to consider the reasons for their actions. After writing a plan to solve the problem, I discuss the plan with the student. This offers a teachable moment about goal-setting and prompts for further self-reflection through discussion. If the initial problem persists, the student and I return to this action plan together to reassess.
